UPDATE: To Stock or Not to Stock Supporting Documentation
The Conference: Boosting Salmon Numbers – Is Stocking the Answer to the Problem? , comprised 19 papers and a series of posters. The Conference booklet, the full presentations, in addition to the discussion sessions, are available on elsewhere at www.loughs-agency.org/ibis/ibis-news/salmon-stocking-conference-videos-available/ During the course of the Conference it was requested that the organisers should collate a summary of links to available guidance on salmon stocking. This summary document is intended to help managers, anglers and other interested stakeholders decide whether there is a case for stocking in their particular circumstances. Following the Conference a group of scientists, involved with the conference, offered to provide a scientific consensus view on stocking and the role which stocking might play in restoring or supporting salmon populations. |
We will also be producing some guidance to help managers decide whether there is a case for stocking in their particular circumstances, drawing on the material presented at the conference. We hope that this will be available early next year.
