UPDATE: To Stock or Not to Stock Supporting Documentation

The Conference: Boosting Salmon Numbers – Is Stocking the Answer to the Problem? , comprised 19 papers and a series of posters. The Conference booklet, the full presentations, in addition to the discussion sessions, are available on elsewhere at www.loughs-agency.org/ibis/ibis-news/salmon-stocking-conference-videos-available/

During the course of the Conference it was requested that the organisers should collate a summary of links to available guidance on salmon stocking. This summary document is intended to help managers, anglers and other interested stakeholders decide whether there is a case for stocking in their particular circumstances.

Following the Conference a group of scientists, involved with the conference, offered to provide a scientific consensus view on stocking and the role which stocking might play in restoring or supporting salmon populations.
We will also be producing some guidance to help managers decide whether there is a case for stocking in their particular circumstances, drawing on the material presented at the conference. We hope that this will be available early next year.
